Review

First of all I would like to compliment the book cover illustrator I LOVE the design! Although we don't judge a book by it's cover, a cover really does help you picking out new reads and does a lot to help attract readers!

Emily Rodgers doesn't believe in fairy tales and neither does she believe in true love or Prince Charmings. But one business project that started off aiming to get a promotion begins a self reclaiming journey that she didn't ever expect as she begins to doubt her expectations, job and her current goal of life that she is pursuing.

Emily Rodgers is a strong female protagonist for which I did admire her however I found her quite conflicting throughout the story. She started off as this organised workaholic with strong values but maybe I expected her to change but the change and her reaction to certain plots in the story seemed different to the Emily Rodgers we are introduced to in the beginning of the book. Obviously it's understandable that some things can have an effect on you but I expected a more progressing change rather than upright acceptance. To read a story with such a protagonist means you read and enjoy but you don't feel so indulged in the story because of a character you find hard understanding because of conflicting personality/views.

The other main protagonist of the book was Prince Lucas. I loved the way the author developed his character and his progress came more of a surprise to me than we see the progress and development of Emily. I liked the storyline surrounding him but it was a shame we didn't get a first hand insight into his family so we could better understand his position. He was likeable but some more character development/description would've improved that as he's got many other high end book boyfriends to compete with and I felt we only really got to know him through his contact with Emily but some scenes with where we just see the true Lucas earlier on would've done him a favour in the readers point of view with the reader more inlined to be rooting for him.

Other characters in the book were at the backdrop and I think that's good because there wS more focus needed on the main characters however it would've been interesting to include some additions of other characters and bring them more to the front seat.

This is a little different to the stories I usually read as they tend to be longer so considering this which is shorter I thought it was a cute, clean romance with good characters and a seemingly interesting plot which sometimes seemed predictable but was satisfying for the reader. It would've helped to include some more action but this story focuses more on the romance which is where I think it misses out on being more than a quick fun and short weekend read.

That being said, I felt myself turning the pages and wanting to read till the end as I definitely wanted to find out if Emily and Lucas got their own happily ever after or not.

Strongly recommended to lovers of clean romances - you will love this.

*I received a ARC copy of the book from Netgalley
